The Challenge

By 2019, the company’s flagship digital platform was evolving at high speed. AI-driven damage detection, telematics data fusion, and complex workflow automation were being introduced while the organization aimed to deliver up to six major releases per year using an agile SCRUM model.

Traditional testing practices could not keep pace. Test coverage was limited, manual testing dominated key workflows, and feedback loops grew longer as complexity increased. The risk of defects affecting thousands of daily users became a growing concern, turning quality into a potential bottleneck rather than a competitive advantage.

The Partner

To overcome these challenges, the company partnered with NUCIDA, a consulting firm specialized in quality engineering, test automation, and scalable QA transformations.

NUCIDA’s mission was to help the organization regain control of quality by building a sustainable testing foundation that could evolve alongside rapid innovation, while enabling internal teams to take ownership over time.

The Solution

Within six months, NUCIDA designed and implemented a new quality assurance ecosystem centered on Xray, integrated directly into Jira.

Dedicated QA teams were established and supported by structured testing processes. Xray became the central hub for managing test cases, executions, and results, tightly integrated via REST API with a custom automation framework. Tools for UI, API, cross-browser, and performance testing were connected into a single, coherent pipeline.

Shift-left and shift-right practices were introduced to create continuous feedback loops involving developers, testers, end users, and customers. Automation rapidly expanded, reaching a ratio of nine automated tests for every manual test. Static code analysis tools were introduced to proactively monitor quality, and comprehensive training ensured internal teams could independently maintain and evolve the new setup.

How Xray Supported the Transformation

Xray provided the structure and visibility required to scale quality at the same pace as innovation. Test assets were centralized, enabling traceability and real-time insight into testing progress across releases.

The impact of this approach was clear and measurable. As the company’s Product Line Manager explained:

“Within six months, the consulting team achieved a significant improvement in software quality by increasing test coverage sixfold and halving test iteration times. Without this support, we could not have established such a sound and sustainable quality management system in that short period of time.”

The tight integration between Xray and the automation framework enabled thousands of tests to run daily while maintaining full transparency through Jira. This shortened feedback loops, reduced risk, and increased confidence in every release.

The Results

The transformation delivered tangible outcomes across the organization:

  • Test coverage increased sixfold

  • Full test iteration runtime was reduced by 50 percent

  • More than 5,000 test cases are now centrally managed

  • Approximately 4,500 automated tests run every day

  • Over 900,000 tests are executed annually

  • System availability reached almost 100 percent during productive time windows

These improvements made it possible to release reliably and at speed, even as platform complexity continued to grow. As the CEO described, the company’s product family delivers advanced solutions for vehicle identification, repair calculation, damage assessment, and claims-related communication with insurance companies, while also enabling reliable used-car and residual value calculations. He added:

“We are dedicated to providing the industry with the most superior products and services to make business easier and more efficient for our customers and clients. NUCIDA and Xray support us to accomplish the next level.”

Today, software quality is no longer a hidden risk but a strategic asset. With Xray at the core of test management and NUCIDA’s expertise embedded in processes and teams, the organization has moved from reactive firefighting to confident, innovation-driven delivery.

Freed from constant quality concerns, teams can focus on building best-in-class digital solutions that support the entire automotive and insurance ecosystem. What began as a critical challenge has become a clear example of how targeted expertise, modern tooling, and smart automation can propel an established market leader to the next level of excellence.
